Mount & Blade 2: Bannerlord update adds duel mode, map improvments

Mount & Blade 2: Bannerlord has continued to grow in early access for almost a year now with another major update having just been announced.

Developer TaleWorlds have unveiled a new beta patch for Bannerlord which will be adding a number of key features and content including an online duel mode and more immersive battle maps, as well as a sandbox mode.

First up, we have the aforementioned duel mode which will be coming to Mount & Blade 2: Bannerlord soon. Here you will drop into a hub world populated by other online players and can approach them to initiate a duel request. You and your opponent will then be summoned to an arena where onlookers can spectate, duel mode allowing you to pick from any of the game’s diverse faction classes.

Another interesting highlight is Mount & Blade 2: Bannerlord’s modified battle terrain system. In a nutshell, the new update will generate battlefields more dynamically when playing the campaign mode. It will take into account your current region, surrounding terrain, and the directions you and your opponent(s) are heading.

TaleWorlds are keen to give players as many different maps and battle scenes as possible when playing Bannerlord. The Mount & Blade update will include 6 new siege scenes including 4 cities and 2 castles with a new pillaging mechanic added for those players who prefer a more menacing, mobile playstyle.

Alongside new armour variants and more ways to customise you in-game character, Bannerlord will soon be adding a sandbox mode, giving players the option to jump into the game “with a clean slate, letting you forge your own path in Calradia without the main storyline to guide you.”
