Destruction AllStars DLC revealed, new modes, skins, and events coming

Following the launch of PS5 exclusive Destruction AllStars earlier this month, developer Lucid Games have revealed a glut of new content for their car combat caper.

We’ve known since before the game’s free release on PlayStation Plus that Destruction AllStars would be supported with a mix of free and premium content. That’s pretty much the standard for every multiplayer title nowadays, right?

Headlining this upcoming DLC is a free new mode – Mayhem 8v8. Coming in March, this is a team-based spin on one of the core Destruction AllStars match types. It’s basically team deathmatch on wheels, with players scoring point by dealing damage to their opponents and wrecking them. Mayhem 8v8 will be joined by Stockpile 4v4, and Carnado Solo, all modes appearing in a “featured playlist” which probably means they will only be temporarily available before being cycled out.

New skins will also be making their way to Destruction AllStars in the coming weeks and months. Hopefully they’ll introduce new outfit options for the game’s cast of playable characters instead of slightly altering their default appearance with different colour combos.

As promised, additional Challenger Series are coming too with the Genesis Challenger Series having been added. Each Series is its own solo focused cluster of missions, bookended by cinematic cutscenes to fill in some background lore.

In our Destruction AllStars review at launch, we scored the PS5 exclusive a decent 6 out of 10. Here’s what we had to say:

The car combat genre has long been out of fashion and still has a way to go if it wants to take us back to its glory days of the 1990s. Destruction AllStars is a mostly satisfying modernisation that has some neat ideas and looks fantastic, though ultimately spins its tyres on repetitive rival-wrecking gameplay and a lack of truly worthwhile content at launch.
