Super Smash Bros. Ultimate Pyra/Mythra two-in-one fighter DLC is out tomorrow

The twinned characters of Pyra/Mythra are joining Super Smash Bros. Ultimate tomorrow in Challenger Pack 9, the latest addition to the Fighters Pass Vol. 2 DLC season pass. Though they’re technically two different characters, Pyra and Mythra from Xenoblade Chronicles 2 count as one for the fighter selection board. Pyra is the legendary Blade, the living weapon used by the main character Rex, but after certain events in the game’s story, it’s revealed that Mythra is another personality sealed within Pyra.

In Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, this means you can switch between the two at any time in battle. Pyra is all about power, while Mythra is about speed, and by swapping between the two, you’ll have a lot of strategic freedom to mix fast movement with powerful attacks.

The new stage that comes with the Challenger Pack is Cloud Sea of Alrest, based on one of the locations in Xenoblade Chronicles 2. It’s set on the back of Azurda, a huge creature that swims through the Sea of Clouds, travelling the world.  That’s represented in SSBU by the background featuring the sights of Xenoblade Chronicles 2, from flying ships to Titans.

Another treat for Xenoblade Chronicles 2 fans is that the soundtrack now features a huge 19 tracks from that game, up from the three that launched with the game in 2018.

There’s also this for fans of Mii Fighters:

Pyra/Mythra are a part of Super Smash Bros. Ultimate Fighters Pass Vol. 2, available in the €29.99 season pass or individually for €5.99. Already released from the season pass are Min Min from ARMS,  Steve & Alex from Minecraft, and Sephiroth from Final Fantasy VII, with two more fighters set to be revealed in the coming months.
