The incredibly popular RuPaul’s Drag Race franchise which has already had spin offs in the UK, Holland, Canada and Thailand, will be heading to your pocket later this year when RuPaul’s Drag Race: The Mobile Game launches on iOS and Android.
The free-to-win mobile game will take players inside iconic moments from the series, making them a part of the show – including designing in the Werk Room, runway challenges, RuMail and pep talks from Mama Ru. Fan-favorite queens will also make limited-time appearances, with a special chance for players to kiki with them all.
If you’re not au fait with the language of the show (and plenty of you are judging from the chat I hear when playing raids in Destiny) then you may need the above translating. It seems the game will allow you design outfits that are judged on runway shows, get encouraging messages from RuPaul, and contestants from the many seasons will be popping up as extra special guest characters, although their purpose has not been revealed.
“The team at World of Wonder is always looking for new ways to bring the Drag Race experience even closer to fans, and what better way than through a mobile game,” World of Wonder co-founders Randy Barbato and Fenton Bailey said in a press release. “We are thrilled to partner with East Side Games on this charisma, uniqueness, nerve, and talent-filled mobile game experience!”
The game will feature contestants from RuPaul’s Drag Race, RuPaul’s Drag Race: All Stars, Untucked: RuPaul’s Drag Race, and all the international versions, so if you have a favourite queen then there is good chance they may show up and perhaps do a little song for you. It could be anyone, who knows, Divina de Campo performing the Tuffcub mix of ‘Gratify’ which came out last year perhaps, which is still available on iTunes and Spotify. [Stop this self promotion right now and get back to the news – Editor]
