April’s PlayStation Plus Games have been revealed, and there’s a lot of zombies

The full line-up for April’s PlayStation Plus free games has been revealed, with the previously announced Oddworld Soulstorm for PS5 coming alongside two PlayStation 4 games overflowing with zombies.

The three PS Plus games for April are:

All three games will be available from 6th April to 3rd May.

I’m sure there’s going to be a tiny little bit of disappointment in the line up, now that it’s been revealed. Oddworld Soulstorm looks great for PS5 owners, and Days Gone with its 60fps update is a great way to show what the PS5 can do, but it’s already given away to subscribers via the PlayStation Plus Collection. Just remember, there’s a lot more PS4 owners out there than PS5 owners.

Don’t sleep on Zombie Army 4: Dead War, by the way, it’s a lot of fun if you can get a good co-op group together to blast through some undead Nazis!

The original article follows.

It’s PlayStation Plus day, or at least it should be if Sony stick to their normal schedule and before the new games are announced there is some housekeeping to do. The smash-tastic PlayStation 5 exclusive Destruction AllStars leaves PlayStation Plus on 6th April and from then on it will cost $19.99 / €19.99 for anyone that didn’t snag it for free, so make sure you grab it now.

We already know what one of the April PlayStation Plus games will be as it was announced back in February. The long awaited Oddworld: Soulstorm will debut on PlayStation 4 and 5 on April 6th, the say PlayStation Plus games go live, and the PS5 version will be part of that month’s PS Plus line-up.

Soulstorm is a remake of the second Oddworld game, following on from the New ‘n’ Tasty remake of the original. In it Abe finds himself the unwitting leader of a revolution, forced to lead the fight against the all-powerful Glukkons. The game’s side-scrolling platforming is given more depth than ever before with what Oddworld Inhabitants call ‘2.9D’ platforming, building the game world out into the third dimension to make the world more immersive.

On PlayStation 5, the game will use the DualSense controller to give you Abe’s heart beat in suspenseful and high-tension situations. Since there’s over 1000 Mudokons that you can try to save, and they can be used in a variety of ways to solve puzzles, provide energy, and even fight back alongside you, when given the right tools.

But wait, there are even more free games! From 19th April, Horizon Zero Dawn Complete Edition (including the base game and the Frozen Wilds DLC) will be given away for free as part of Sony’s Play At Home initiative.

Oddworld: Soulstorm and Horizon: Zero Dawn would make a very good line up of free games any month and there’s still a couple more games to be announced around 4.30pm today to go with them, so check back here at that time to find out what they are.

You have a week to download the current PS Plus games from the PlayStation Store:

  1. Oh, I didn’t realise Oddworld was so soon, looking forward to it!

  2. It’s totally unfair that PS4 owners don’t get it for free as well. I love the 2-D style Abe games.

    • I counter this by pointing out that all PS5 owners with PS+ already have Days Gone, it’s part of the PS5 PS Plus Collection. So PS5 owners are really only getting two games as well, same as those on PS4.

      • There’s nothing stopping you from adding games from platforms you do not own to your account for later on.

Obviously a shame anyone feels like they’re missing out, but it’s an added incentive for people to upgrade ASAP.

      • On the other hand, there’s the extra incentive to upgrade to a PS5 with the PS+ Collection. Which they’re now apparently slowly giving away to everyone else anyway. First Ratchet & Clank for free, then Days Gone on PS+ for everyone, and HZD next month for everyone.

But for 50 quid a year (or less), PS+ is still ridiculous value. Even if they do try and piss everyone off by giving the same game in 3 different ways. Days Gone was on PS Now as well. I wouldn’t put it past them to give Days Gone next month for completely, properly free. There’s still a couple more months of that “Stay at home! It’s death outside! Have some free stuff” promotion.

      • Which doesn’t mean if you haven’t got Days Gone already that you shouldn’t be happy. It’s a lot of fun, and a lot better than a lot of critics would have you believe.

      • MrYd: As a friend pointed out to me earlier, they’ve already given Ratchet and Clank away via PS+. I had no recollection of this, but the internet seems to agree with him :)
