Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart will be out exclusively for PlayStation 5 on 11th June, seeing Dr. Nefarious tear a hole in the dimension and taking our usual two heroes on a ripping new adventure. Along the way you’ll meet and play as Rivet, the new Lombax that resides in an alternate dimension where, it seems, Nefarious managed to rule as Emperor Nefarious. You’ll visit Nefarious City along the way, as well as new twists on Sargasso and Torren IV.
The game looks fantastic, but you might have a tricky decision to make. Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart will have an optional 60 frames per second mode, but that will come at the cost of not running in 4K. That doesn’t mean to say that the game isn’t taking advantage of the PS5 though, with plenty of ray tracing effects, almost invisible load times that allow for the rift jumping between stages to take mere moments, and use of the DualSense controller with adaptive triggers allowing for alternate fire on the game’s many wacky weapons.
We’ve been eagerly awaiting the release of Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart ever since it was announced. In fact, it made it well into the top ten of our Most Wanted Games of 2021, pulling in at #7.
