It appears that a couple of in game images for the next Battlefield game have been leaked, and they appear to show a near future kind of setting. The first image of these leaked screenshots shows a point of view image from a vehicle cockpit, and it looks like it is from an air vehicle. It could be a jet or a helicopter. There are different missiles equipped to it and the vehicle appears to be targeting another plane in the sky. The setting looks to be a rocket launch area. The second image appears to be from a cutscene showing planes flying around an island or the tip of a larger landmass. It could be the same location as the first image.
The images line up with previous rumours that Battlefield 6 will be in a near future setting, but we cannot yet verify the authenticity of these images so as always take with a pinch of salt. There is also speculation that Battlefield 6 will not release on PS4 and Xbox One, as well as rumours that the game will be available through Xbox Game Pass at launch. If the game is only coming to PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, the potential audience is much smaller than if they also released on the last generation machines, and EA could recoup some of the development costs and ensure that the game has as large a player base as possible via Microsoft’s subscription service.
In an investor call earlier this year, EA said “[Battlefield 6] takes full advantage of the power of next-generation platforms to bring massive, immersive battles to life with more players than ever before. Featuring maps with unprecedented scale, the next edition of Battlefield takes all the destruction, player agency, vehicle and weapon combat that the franchise is known for and elevates it to another level.”
An announcement of Battlefield 6, which could just be called Battlefield, is expected soon.
