The Battlefield 6 reveal is happening on 9th June – has a nice neon turquoise logo

The Battlefield 6 game reveal is happening next week on Wednesday 9th June, at 7AM PDT / 2PM BST (UK time) / 3PM CEST.

It seems increasingly likely at this point that EA and DICE are planning to reboot the franchise by simply calling the game ‘Battlefield’, and avoiding a number or subtitle at the end. For now, we’re calling it Battlefield 6. The most exciting thing at this point – from this pre-announcement announcement – is that the game seems to have picked neon turquoise as its central colour. It’s a nice colour.

After months and months of rumours, of shonky leaks, and wild speculation. It was already known that the Battlefield 6 reveal would happen in June, as EA made recent investor statements and the Battlefield twitter account made some not-so-cryptic messages.

While EA are calling Battlefield “a true next generation game”, this has been proven to be marketing fluff, a statement of intent for the game’s scope. In actual fact, 2021’s Battlefield will come to both the new PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S and the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. It will obviously appear on PC as well.

Battlefield 6’s development was announced at EA Play Live in June 2020, with EA’s Chief Studios Office Laura Miele saying they are “creating epic battles at a scale and fidelity unlike anything you’ve experienced before.” while showing off a greyboxed demo of the game featuring a much, much higher player count than the 64-player battles found in Battlefield 4, Battlefield 1 and Battlefield V.

In an investor call earlier this year, EA said “[Battlefield 6] takes full advantage of the power of next-generation platforms to bring massive, immersive battles to life with more players than ever before. Featuring maps with unprecedented scale, the next edition of Battlefield takes all the destruction, player agency, vehicle and weapon combat that the franchise is known for and elevates it to another level.”

I guess we’ll just have to wait and see now.
