It’s the most wanted game of E3 and it’s appeared a lot earlier than anyone had anticipated. Elden Ring has got a new trailer! Created by George R. R. Martin and FromSoftware, the game is a fantasy RPG that focuses on something called the Elden Ring. The game was originally revealed back in E3 2019 and will now ship on January 21st 2022 for PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S and PC.
As with all FromSoftware games of the last decade and more, this is a game that’s meant to be seriously challenging. It’s built on FromSoftware’s signature melee combat, but made more open world with the addition of things like horseback combat and big light swords. Also there’s a spider made out of a hand, which is pretty creepy.
Miyazaki–san said, “Collaborating with George R. R. Martin to create the Elden Ring mythos has been a genuinely delightful experience and a source of wonderful inspiration. The team is working hard to ensure that the world of Elden Ring will be a fascinating place for players to explore, filled with peril and wonder from its furthest reaches to its lowest depths. This is a FromSoftware title through and through, rich in fantasy and RPG action. We sincerely hope you look forward to it.” said Hidetaka Miyazaki, President of FromSoftware, Inc.
Meanwhile, George had the following to say: “Building the world of Elden Ring with Miyazaki-san and his team was a treat! The graphics, mythos, and action-RPG gameplay will deliver an unforgettable experience. I can’t wait for people to see what Elden Ring has in store for them.”
And Bandai Namco’s Herve Hoerdt was suitably chuffed to have brought the two together. He said, “It’s incredible to see two masters of world building and storytelling bring their craftsmanship together in creating Elden Ring. Combining FromSoftware’s excellent game design with the world created in the minds of Hidetaka Miyazaki and George R.R. Martin, we’ll be definitely be treated to something special.”
