Square Enix has announced that a NEO: The World Ends With You demo will be available on PS4 and Switch from June 25th. The demo will allow players to play through the first two days of the Reapers Game, and introduce the main protagonist Rindo as well as his friend Fret. Other characters will also make an appearance. There will be a handful of missions to engage in, pins to collect to alter various Psych abilities, and an introduction to the combat that will be present in the full game. Progress from the demo will carry over to the full game provided the demo is played on the same system. A new trailer for NEO: The World Ends With You has also been released.

The synopsis of NEO: The World Ends with You is as follows:

Explore the dazzling streets of Tokyo as Rindo, leader of the Wicked Twisters, caught up in a battle to survive and win the “Reapers’ Game.” Team up with a vibrant cast of characters, collect badges to arm yourself with powerful psych abilities, and take on foes in hyper-stylish action battles.

NEO: The World Ends with You follows on from The World Ends with You, which itself was released in 2007 for the Nintendo DS. That was re-released for the Nintendo Switch in 2018. In our review for The World Ends with You Final Mix, Miguel wrote:

Despite the subtitle Final Remix, it’s hard to call this version of the game definitive. The new music is wonderful, the additional stories are engaging, and the updated visuals make it hard to return to the pixelated appearance of the original DS release. Still, despite these obvious improvements and extra pieces of content, there’s a downside to the update. Some people, especially newcomers, won’t find issue with the new control scheme, but for many long-time fans the dual-character combat of the original is a huge part of what made it a game worth remastering. I’m positive that there’s a way to adapt the combat of the original game to the Switch faithfully. In failing to properly tackle that design challenge, though, Square Enix has put out a good version of a classic JRPG, but certainly not the definitive version.
