Update 30/06: And your games are… Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 on PS4, WWE 2K Battlegrounds on PS4, A Plague Tale: Innocence on PS5!

PlayStation Plus July 2021

PlayStation Plus July 2021

So what about the those games? Well frankly I could have done without yet another Call of Duty game on PlayStation Plus and I’m quite sure many of you feel the same way, it’s not like it’s a niche title, it’s one of the biggest selling games every year. WWE 2K Battlegrounds is a surprise, the game is less than a year old but clearly didn’t do as well as 2K had hoped. The jewel in the crown is A Plague Tale: Innocence, very happy that many more people are going to get to play that.

As predicted by moi, the July PlayStation Plus games will go live on Tuesday 6th July, not Wednesday, so people can’t buy the PS5 version of A Plague’s Tale and then find out it’s free the next day. Virtua Fighter 5 Ultimate Showdown, the Sega’s beat’em up will remain on PlayStation Plus for a second month.

What are your thoughts on the games? Lets us know in the comments!

Original article below…

Another PlayStation Plus reveal day has rolled around once more with Sony set to announce the next set of free games at around 4.30pm today, but what will they be?

Well, one leak that was published a couple of days ago on a New Zealand site, one that had previously leaked a correct set of PlayStation Plus games, suggested that WRC 9 and Uncharted The Lost Legacy would be the PlayStation 4 games for this month, with A Plague Tale: Innocence being the bonus PS5 only game. They seem fairly safe bets but the post has since been removed so clearly they were not confident in their source.

One other rumour is that Far Cry 5 might be one of the games which would help to build hype for Far Cry 6, but we’ve not seen a big Ubisoft title as part of PlayStation Plus since For Honor in Janaury 2019.

However, the PS5 enhanced version of A Plague Tale: Innocence has been mentioned by a number of other sources as being the bonus PS5 game for July.  It launches on 6th July, a day before we normally get PlayStation Plus games which might be a bit of a problem, obviously Sony won’t want people complaining that the game they bought twenty-four hours ago has suddenly become free, but Sony could always make the PS Plus version available on Tuesday.

I reviewed A Plague Tale: Innocence and gave it a well deserved 9/10. “A Plague Tale: Innocence proves that feisty young women are the new heroes of single player narrative adventures, and Amicia can proudly stand alongside Aloy and Senua,” said I. “Asobo Studios have knocked it out of the park with a compelling story, superb graphics, and excellent music. Loved it.”

Don’t forget to gran June’s PlayStation Plus, Virtua Fighter 5 Ultimate Showdown, Star Wars: Squadrons and the PS5 version of new release Operation: Tango. We’ve got the download links for you to add them straight to your account:

We’ll be back at 4.30pm to see what Sony have revealed!

  1. “As predicted by moi, the July PlayStation Plus games will go live on Tuesday 6th July, not Wednesday”. Sorry to burst your bubble but ps plus games always go live on a Tuesday, Wednesday is announcement day

    • And that is why it was very easy to predict!

(Also: Shush, I can’t remember every single thing about video games ever. Shhh!!)

      • As a long time lurker and extremely rare commenter I should stick to commenting on games not calling out mistakes, sorry

      • You’re fine. We make mistakes, and we’re more than happy to fix them whenever they’re pointed out to us. Tuff’s shushing is his equivalent of fanning himself as his cheeks flush red with embarrassment. (There’s a mental image to savour)

    • I mean, that just makes it very easy for Tuff to predict. ;)

I’ve reminded him of this fact.

  2. Another CoD to play for a bit and then get bored of. They’re all decent enough fun, I guess. But wasn’t that one the one that (a) got a load of people annoyed by failing to understand how Roman numerals work, and (b) didn’t sell very well anyway?

Plague Tale looks decent enough for free.

And another one that’s on PS Now as well. I’m sure nobody cared when they put it on there either.

  3. Of course I don’t care about another CoD game, but The Plague Tale was on my wishlist for a while already. Gladly I didn’t buy it in the recent sale. Sony are right bast***s, as they keep doing that, they put a game on sale just before including it in Plus. I wasted money on Control that way already.

  4. What the hell is this crap!? :-(

    • Plague Tale is a really fantastic game. They’re giving an absolute gem.
