I Expect You To Die 2, the spy thriller VR escape room sequel from Schell Games, will release on 24th August for PlayStation VR, Oculus Quest and PC VR headsets via SteamVR. The game will be priced at $24.99 across all platforms, but those who pre-order for Oculus Quest and PlayStation VR can get 10% off.

Check it out in this new ‘mixed reality’ trailer;

A sequel to the Bond-themed escape room puzzler, I Expect You To Die 2: The Spy and the Liar picks up right after the first game, with a new plot by Zoraxis for you to defuse. This time you’ll be going under cover, dropping you into all sorts of hairy situations and having you interact with the world around you to solve a string of increasingly hair-raising puzzles.

As a sequel, the game naturally builds on the strengths of the original. You still have telekinesis to reach distant objects, the environments are filled with interactivity, and getting puzzles wrong will result in a lot of deaths. However, Schell are taking things further. You can now eat cupcakes, wear masks, make flamethrowers, reflect deadly lasers and more – some of these, I’m sure, will be relevant to the puzzles you need to solve.

Missions will now feature dynamic music to help amplify your successes and progression through a stage, and Schell has invested more in the cast of characters, getting Wil Wheaton in to voice celebrity extraordinaire John Juniper.

I Expect You To Die launched on PlayStation VR back in December 2016, and was a bit of a hit for Schell. In our review of the original, I wrote:

Putting you into cunning espionage themed escape rooms, I Expect You To Die is a fun VR puzzler with a charming sense of humour and dozens of ways to die. Sadly, there’s only a handful missions to take on, making this yet another VR game that’s over before it’s had a chance to really get started.
