Turtle Rock Studios has lifted the lid on what players can expect when the Back 4 Blood beta takes place. The open beta will be available from August 12 to August 16th. However, anyone who pre-orders Back 4 Blood will get access to an additonal beta that will run from August 5th to August 9th. The open beta will include two PvE maps, two PvP Swarm mode maps, five playable characters, six playable Ridden, access to the Fort Hope Communal Hub, and all weapons and gear from the full release. The beta will also support cross platform and cross gen play between PC, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PS4, and PS5
Back 4 Blood will be an always online experience meaning players will need an internet connection even if playing solo on the AI maps. After all the focus of Back 4 Blood is the cooperative and PvP experience. The cooperative mode of Back 4 Blood pits four human characters against hordes of AI zombies of all sizes, running through lengthy missions where close teamwork will be needed in order to survive. Meanwhile, the Swarm PvP mode pits two teams of players against one another, with human players defending themselves, as the Ridden side use special monsters to try and take them out. Turtle Rock has been very keen to emphasise that they are keeping fairness in mind, especially as they will have paid gameplay content – a party leader can share access to DLC with other players though.
