Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy Lady Hellbender 500

Here we see the Guardians craftily win an audience with the hulking Hellbender as they attempt to flog her a new alien monster for her collection.

There are a few interesting things to note in this cinematic. Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy will seemingly allow players to resolve key story moments in a number of ways, sometimes involving different characters. In this instance, either Star-Lord or Drax can take the lead when confronting Hellbender. Square also note that you can choose either Groot or Rocket as the “monster” they are selling to her.

Before you play Guardians of the Galaxy, read these comics first

If this is your first glimpse of the upcoming game you may be wondering why Star Lord and Drax look and sound different compared to their movie counterparts. Much like last year’s Marvel’s Avengers, Guardians of the Galaxy has no ties with the MCU (Marvel Cinematic Universe). This is a completely original representation of the characters. That said, there’s bound to be some overlap with the movies. One of the writers responsible for rebooting the GotG comics, Dan Abnett, is involved with the project.

Developed by Eidos Montreal, Guardians of the Galaxy is a single player, story-driven title. You will play as Peter Quill, aka Star-Lord, leading your team through various missions. From what we’ve seen of the game in action, it appears to blend third person action with exploration and some light puzzle-solving. You can’t controls your fellow Guardians directly though you’ll be able to trigger their unique abilities in combat.

Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy will launch on PS5, PS4, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. It will be available on October 26th 2021 and anyone who pre-orders will get a throwback costumes pack.
