Team17 and Ghost Town Games are celebrating five years of Overcooked! with the free Birthday Party update for Overcooked! All You Can Eat. The remastered duology is available across PS5, Xbox Series X|S, PS4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch and PC via Steam.

The Birthday Party update adds the following new content to Overcooked! All You Can Eat:

  • Five new birthday-themed kitchens
  • New chef – Tabby cat
  • New recipe – Cup of tea

That’s five more birthday-themed kitchens in addition to the more than 200 kitchens already available in Overcooked! AYCE, but that’s not the end of the festivities. Overcooked! AYCE will be free to play on steam from 6PM BST 9th August until 6PM 11th August, while there’s also up to 80% off the whole Overcooked franchise on all platforms.

Overcooked! All You Can Eat was released alongside the new generation of consoles, the PS5 and Xbox Series X|S. The new compilation of the two games in the series took all of the existing content and remastered it for the new devices. That meant completely overhauling a lot of the levels from the first game, with new graphics and the online multiplayer support that was introduced in the second game.

Alongside this, All You Can Eat brought an assist mode to the table, allowing for a less frantic game with slower recipe timeouts, longer round timers and the ability to simply skip levels that you were stuck on. That’s much nicer than the notoriously difficult original game. A scalable UI and dyslexia friendly text rounded out the accessibility options.

After that initial release on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S, Team17 also then brought the remaster back to the PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Nintendo Switch, taking the time to dive into the online multiplayer to add full-on cross-play.

So… who’s up for a nice co-op cuppa?
