Marvel’s Midnight Suns has been revealed at Gamescom 2021. The game has been created by Firaxis and published by 2K and will be hitting the shelves in March 2022. The trailer shows alternate versions of popular superheroes including Wolverine, Blade, Iron Man, and Ghost Rider.

Marvel’s Midnight Suns is a new tactical RPG set in the darker side of the Marvel Universe, putting you face-to-face against demonic forces of the underworld as you team up with and live among the Midnight Suns, Earth’s last line of defense.

The game features a brand new superhero The Hunter, who is resurrected to fight against Lilith, mother of demons. Marvel’s Midnight Suns is described as a “single-player focused experience” and your customizable character happens to be the offspring of the big bad, Lilith. It’s going to be a tactical RPG where you not only fight alongside fellow superhero’s, you live with them as well. Your relationships off the battlefield will effect those on it.

The game is an adaptation of 1992’s Rise of the Midnight Sons cross-over event in the Marvel comics universe and will feature twelve playable characters, some familiar, some less so. Magik from the X-Men and Nico Minoru from the Runaways are two such characters. “I’m particularly excited for players to get the chance to learn about Magik,” said Jake Solomon, Midnight Suns’ creative director at Firaxis Games, “Who is one of my favorite Marvel heroes.”

“It’s a story that hasn’t been told in 30 years now… since the comic came out,” comments Solomon. “It gave us two things, right? One, it gave us a new villain, which I love Lilith as a villain. It gave us all these new characters to talk about, some supernatural characters that I think players won’t be as familiar with. And then of course the more popular characters we could pull down to this sort of darker side of the Marvel universe.”

Gameplay will be officially revealed on September 1st at 11.30PT, that’s 19:30 British Summer Time. The official website, and indeed the Gamescom 2021 reveal, do not list any formats but we have heard it’s coming to PC, PlayStation, Xbox, and Nintendo Switch.
