Death Stranding 2 negotiations are on between Sony and Kojima, suggests Norman Reedus

Death Stranding: Director's Cut

The actor Norman Reedus, who plays main character Sam Porter Bridges in Death Stranding, has suggested that Death Stranding 2 is happening. According to Norman Reedus, the sequel is currently in a negotiation stage between game director Hideo Kojima and Sony. This information came via AdoroCinema, a sister site of IGN Brazil, where reporter Vitoria Pratini asked about a sequel during a round table for the new season of The Walking Dead. Norman Reedus said, “I think we’re doing a second Death Stranding. [The game] is in negotiations now. So… Yay!”

Death Stranding has been fresh in people’s minds recently due to the upcoming Director’s Cut release. The features of the Director’s Cut have been detailed too. If you want to deliver your packages quicker then evolved stabilisers  are just the thing, allowing you to jump from high areas and land safely. The new Cargo Catapult can launch your cargo across vast distances and then you can pilot them down the last few metres to a smooth landing. Buddy bot has been upgraded and now has increased capabilities A firing range lets you practise you weapons skills and train and compete for high scores in virtual play areas. There are new weapons including a Maser Gun which can stun enemies for a prolonged period. Boss battles can be replayed. and a new  score system will let you see your global ranking. There are eight new tracks in the music player and new jump ramps allow you to do tricks on your bike, and there’s also a new race track with online rankings.

Hideo Kojima has commented on the name of the enhanced version of his game. In short, he does not like the Director’s Cut moniker.

“A director’s cut in a movie is an additional edit to a shortened version that was either released reluctantly because the director did not have the right to edit it, or because the running time had to be shortened,” tweeted Kojima.

Death Stranding is like nothing I have ever played; beautiful, heart racing, heart breaking, frustrating, epic, stunning, and utterly nuts. I laughed, I cried, I cursed, and I went to the toilet an awful lot. Death Stranding isn’t just my Game of the Year, it’s a contender for Game of the Generation too.

If you already own the PS4 version you can get the PS5 Death Stranding Director’s Cut Digital Deluxe Edition Upgrade for only [$10, €10]. This option will be available at launch. The Death Stranding Director’s Cut will be released September 24th.
