The Uncharted: Legacy of Thieves remaster is coming to PS5… and for PC

Uncharted legacy of Thieves

The two most recent games in the Uncharted series are being remastered for PS5… and for PC. Uncharted: Legacy of Thieves brings together Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End and Uncharted: The Lost Legacy, enhancing them for newer and much more powerful systems. The game collection will release in Early 2022 for PlayStation 5, with the PC version following shortly after.

These are easily two of the best games you could pick up for the PlayStation 4. We gave Uncharted 4 a stellar 10/10 when it released in 2016. In our review, Jim said:

“Uncharted 4 is more than masterful, bearing the hallmarks of a true system seller. What struck me most as an ardent fans of the series is how much it breaks away from the original blueprint yet manages to amaze on every level. Where many studios step safely from one sequel and into the next, Naughty Dog has taken a gigantic leap, proving yet again they’re the best in the business.”

While it wasn’t quite as essential, The Lost Legacy was another excellent entry and spin-off for the series.

“Forget Nathan Drake and Chloe Fraser, if you managed to bag The Lost Legacy as part of Uncharted 4’s season pass then you’re the real thief here. There’s a staggering wealth of content to explore, the quality of which is easily on par with A Thief’s End. The stakes may not be as high, but it’s impossible not build a connection with Chloe and Nadine or revel in the set piece action and story surprises. As far as standalone expansions go, they don’t get more epic than this.”

Quite how far the games are being enhanced isn’t quite clear yet. The games ran at 1080p on base PlayStation 4, and with a native 1440p on PlayStation 4 Pro, both locked to 30fps. The PlayStation 5 could conceivably bump up the resolution to native 4K and frame rates to 60fps, but other parts of the game’s graphical presentation could also be enhanced.

While Sony recently acquired Nixxes to add some PC porting expertise to PlayStation Studios, the PC version of these two games is actually being handled by Iron Galaxy.

I'm probably wearing toe shoes, and there's nothing you can do to stop me!

  1. The Lost Legacy was the best Uncharted game to date, in my opinion.

    • The second half reminded me of Uncharted 2.

  2. I’ve just played through Uncharted 4 again on the PS5 – Not sure too many people will want to pay for an upgrade seeming it’s free on the PS Plus Collection, and they’ve probably played through it again too. I could be tempted by Legacy though.

  3. I sold my copy of Lost Legacy and was tempted to purchase it again this week in the sale. I guess i’ll hold off for the remaster now.
