Enlisted brings World War 2 action to PS4 and Xbox

Enlisted Game PS4 PS5 Xbox

Enlisted is now available to play on PS4 and Xbox One, the game’s developer has confirmed. Previously, the game had been released on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X.

Now Gaijin and Darkflow Software have thrown the doors wide open for those wanting to play the World War 2 shooter on last gen platforms.

It’s completely free-to-play with a growing number of maps, modes, and unlockable features. Enlisted allows you to switch between different campaigns, each with their own units, weapons, vehicles, and locations appropriate for the chosen theatre of war. In the latest Enlisted expansion, Darkflow added the Tunisia campaign which introduced the new Destruction game mode.

Here’s what the team had to say about the two new versions of Enlisted:

Our development team has worked hard for more than a year to optimize performance and carefully adapt the massive and intense Enlisted battles for the previous generation of hardware. As a result, battlefields full of soldiers, armoured vehicles, and aircraft fighting simultaneously in the same location can run at a stable 30 FPS, even on [base model PS4 and Xbox One consoles]. With the content of all available campaigns being exactly the same as on the newer generation of consoles and PC. Though we are still not satisfied with the performance and will keep working on improving it.

It will be interesting to see what impact this has on the Enlisted player count, especially with cross-play enabled between all platforms.

Enlisted left us pretty impressed when we first played the closed beta ahead of release:

“With Enlisted marching out of closed beta, we’re already seeing new maps, weapons, and other content being pumped into the game. Being free to play means we’re likely to see plenty of boots on the ground in the coming weeks, though whether Darkflow can keep these players hooked will ultimately depend on how they monetise Enlisted and how it balances in-game grinding with paid-for shortcuts.”

If Enlisted doesn’t do it for you, there are two other World War II shooters to look out for. Hell Let Loose just launched on consoles and PlayStation Plus (our PS5 review) with Call of Duty: Vanguard on the way – boasting a brilliant multiplayer offering.
