Solar Ash has been delayed to December

Solar Ash will now be releasing on December 2nd, Heart Machine and Annapurna Interactive have confirmed. Solar Ash was originally set to be released on October 26th for PS4, PS5, and PC. A reason for the delay of Solar Ash was given by Heart Machine who wrote on Twitter: “We want Solar Ash to shine, and we need a bit more time to get the last pieces of polish and bug fixes into the game, while still navigating this global pandemic as a highly dedicated team. This short delay will help us get there. Thank you for your understanding, and we’ll see you in the Ultravoid soon.”

Solar Ash takes place near to a black hole, with the gameplay all about speed and fluidity as you explore the large environments that are gradually being consumed. The protagonist, Ray, is a Void Runner, who’s deliberately heading into the anomaly in an attempt to save her home planet.

Alongside the smooth traversal, you also have moments of combat thrown into the mix, with both fleeting attacks thrown at lesser enemies that’s intended to blend in with the rest of the platforming gameplay. Then there’s the huge bone-like Sentinels that are encountered, quite likely inspired by games like Shadow of the Colossus as Ray has to scale them, weaken and strike at them.

Announced back in 2019, Heart Machine and Annapurna Interactive has regularly brought their game to Sony’s PlayStation events since then. It was one of the many indie games shown at last year’s PlayStation 5 gameplay reveal, and was then featured in a State of Play stream earlier this year.
