A new clip has been released from the Uncharted movie, showing off one of the most spectacular sequences from the video game franchises recreated in the motion picture. The two minute video ends on a bit of a free-falling cliffhanger, which will be resolved when the film comes out on 11th February 2022 in the UK and 18th February 2022 in the United States. You know… unless plans change and it’s delayed again.
The plane fight sequence was one of the show-stopping set pieces from Uncharted 3, the third and final game in the series to release on PlayStation 3. Millions of players know how that fight plays out, so it’s not that big a spoiler to showcase it in this video (especially because they’ve been teasing it in movie trailers and screenshots over the past year). However, it’s been given a completely different context as the Uncharted movie mixes up a bunch of narrative threads and ideas to tell a different story.
The Uncharted movie stars Tom Holland as Nathan Drake, backed up by long-time adventuring partner Sully, who’s played by Mark Wahlberg. The movie puts them together for the first time and puts them on the trail of a $5 billion fortune from Ferdinand Magellan that was lost some 500 years ago, racing against Moncado, played by Antonio Banderas.
The February debut in theatres was a delay for the film’s planned release. Originally announced for a 16th July 2021 release, the film has been impacted by the pandemic restrictions, just like all Hollywood productions of the last few years. Plans could still change, considering that the video clip ends by stating that the movie is “coming soon” instead of giving a definitive date…
The Uncharted movie has been in development for so long that Mark Wahlberg has gone from originally being considered to play Nathan Drake, and now he is Victor Sullivan. The cast also includes Hollywood icon Antonio Banderas though it is unknown what his role will be. Sophie Ali will be playing Chloe Frazer while Tati Gabrielle is playing Braddock, a brand new character for the series.
Who’s planning to go see the film? If you’re an avid fan of the franchise, you might be looking to pick up the Uncharted: Legacy of Thieves collection which (if you get in there early) will net you free tickets.

That was utterly ridiculous but so much fun! I’m really looking forward to seeing the rest.
