Dead By Daylight SAW crossover adds new content

dead by daylight saw content tome

Dead By Daylight has announced its latest crossover. New SAW content based on the grisly film series will be making its way into Behaviour Interactive’s hit multiplayer game.

It’s worth noting that this isn’t a new Chapter (Dead By Daylight’s version of Seasons). Instead, there’s a SAW themed Tome on the way with special cosmetics for killer The Pig and survivor, Detective Tapp, both of whom appear in the SAW films. There will be 60 other items up for grabs that can be used by other characters.

Tome 10: SAW goes live on January 26, 2022, and with it comes a series of in-game challenges for players to complete. These are presented in branch-like paths, dishing out rewards including Rift Fragment (we’ll explain what these are in a bit). Each Tome is divided into multiple levels and it’s only by completing several linked challenges that you can reach the epilogue and advance to the next tier. Still with us?

These challenges provide optional goals for players to aim for and will often encourage you to use a variety of characters and tactics. Doing so will shower you with Rift Fragments which help fill a progress bar in The Rift. This is basically Dead By Daylight’s slightly more confusing take on the battle pass system we’ve seen in games like Fortnite, PUBG, and Call of Duty: Modern Warfare. Play Dead By Daylight long enough for a live season and you’ll get some neat rewards.

This isn’t the first time Dead By Daylight has teamed up with SAW. Four years ago, Chapter 7 introduced a new killer, survivor, and map.

Will Dead By Daylight get bots on PC & consoles?

We recently re-reviewed Dead By Daylight for 2020, bumping up its original score:

Dead By Daylight has evolved into somewhat of a phenomenon, proving that the often maligned games-as-a-service model produces more than just cookie cutter loot shooters. It’s still an acquired taste and a bit rough around the edges though stands out as one of the most unique ongoing multiplayer games of the generation.

Those who currently own a copy of Dead By Daylight on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One can upgrade for free on the PS5 and Xbox Series X|S respectively, carrying over their progress – here’s how.
