A new series of Monster Hunter Rise Sunbreak Amiibo figures are due to be released alongside the upcoming expansion.

During Capcom’s recent livestream event, the Japanese publisher announced three new toys including the Canyne Malzeno Palamute Amiibo, the Malzeno Amiibo, and the Felyne Malzeno Palico Amiibo.

Aside from adding three cool new figures to your stash, each Monster Hunter Rise Sunbreak Amiibo offers bonus content. The three of them contain data to unlock exclusive cosmetic gear for your Hunter, Palamute, and Palico, all based on Sunbreak’s flagship beast, the Malzeno.

When can Monster Hunter fans get their hands on these new characters? Capcom confirmed that they will launch alongside the Sunbreak DLC which has a release date set for June 30, 2022. However, these may prove difficult to get hold of with preorders only available via Nintendo Japan at the time of writing. It’s likely that other regions will have stock though it’s worth mentioning that the Monster Hunter Rise Amiibo range quickly sold out, making them hard to find even today.

Monster Hunter Rise Sunbreak will release simultaneously for both Nintendo Switch and PC. The DLC will require that you already own a copy of the base game as you embark on a new adventure to the Eldgado Outpost. You’ll ally with the Knights of the Royal Order to help face the Three Lords, a trio of powerful new creatures. This includes includes the newly unveiled Garangolm, the chilling Fanged Wyvern Lunagaron, and the Elder Dragon Malzeno. They’re far from the only new enemies, as other monster variants like Blood Orange Bishaten and Astalos will emerge, and you’ll be chasing after accomplishments in the new Master Rank quest difficulty.

Originally releasing for Nintendo Switch in March 2021 and then getting a PC port in January 2022, Sunbreak is a major expansion to a widely praised entry in the long-running Monster Hunter series. In our Monster Hunter Rise review, we scored this latest entry in the series a whopping 9/10, thanks to new gameplay tweaks and innovations like the Wirebug and Palamutes:

“Monster Hunter Rise is an incredible game. While it may not feel quite as ground-breaking for the series as World did, it boasts a stronger and distinctly Japanese identity, and the changes and streamlined gameplay simply focus on the franchise’s true stars – the monsters. Rise is easily one of the best games for the Nintendo Switch, and one of the finest Monster Hunters ever.”
