Ubisoft has officially announced Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Mobile, an upcoming free-to-play tactical shooter for smartphones and mobile devices.
Although the word Siege is missing from the title, this is without doubt a Rainbow Six Siege mobile adaptation, featuring a swathe of elements from the incredibly successful multiplayer game.
Currently in its pre-alpha stage, Ubisoft is allowing fans to a chance to play Rainbow Six Mobile ahead of its release date on the Google Play and Apple App stores. Simply register and you may be picked to participate in upcoming tests.
Adapting Siege for a new, mobile audience hasn’t been straightforward. This new game is currently 3 years into development, the team outlining how it will differ from Siege on PC and consoles:
While the core gameplay, characters, and maps may share similarities with Siege, we’ve rebuilt everything from the ground up with mobile usability in mind. We have put a lot of work under the hood to adapt the Siege experience for mobile devices. This includes an entirely new gameplay control system developed specifically for mobile and extensive optimization of the UI and in-game visual presentation.
Our goal is not to have you stop playing on PC or console and switch to mobile. We know there is nothing like the adrenaline rush of a close Siege match on the big screen or the precision of a mouse and keyboard. Since we can’t carry our monitors with us everywhere, Rainbow Six Mobile will give you the opportunity to play the game you love in short, accessible bursts, while also enabling millions of new players to get the R6 experience.
Familiar maps (Bank and Border) and Operators from Siege can be seen throughout the announcement trailer. So far, here are all the confirmed Operators:
- Ash
- Sledge
- Twitch
- Thermite
- Hibana
- Caveira
- Bandit
- Smoke
- Valkyrie
- Mute
Veterans will note that these characters have all undergone a slight makeover for this new mobile title.
Meanwhile, Ubisoft recently launched Y7S1 for Rainbow Six Siege on PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. You can read more about the new Operator, mode, map, and other changes here.

Whilst I’m never too excited to hear about mobile games, if this is as slick as COD Mobile it will be good fun!
