Arcadegeddon coming to more platforms with online crossplay

Arcadegeddon is coming out of early access and will soon be available on PC and consoles. Developer Illfonic has officially announced that version 1.0 of the stylish co-op shooter will launch on July 5, 2022, for PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. A physical release will follow later this summer.

No matter which version of Arcadegeddon you’re playing, you’ll be able to jump into a match with friends and randoms on other platforms thanks to online crossplay.

Arcadegeddon originally released on PS5 and PC last year. Although met with generally positive feedback, this early access build lacked key content and features from the final build.

If this is the first you’ve heard of the game, here’s an official synopsis:

Save the local arcade from the evil megacorporation Fun Fun Co, which sabotaged arcade owner Gilly’s super game meant to keep the doors open. Work together with up to three friends or brave the digital combat zone solo, exploring multiple vibrant biomes, competing for powerful loot in mid-game PvP challenges, and conquering multiple fearsome bosses with a mighty new final boss loop and beautiful biome premiering at launch this July.

Recruit 11 local gangs to Gilly’s Arcade and complete their challenges to earn tech points that will allow you to unlock Surge Gauntlet Abilities, such as fireballs and health drones to help in the fight. Create a loadout from 35 powerful weapons to annihilate 8 base enemy types plus variants of each to equal 31 total, with 4 dastardly bosses leading them. Climb the rankings through 6 distinct biomes to unlock additional challenges after earning enough street cred.

Arcadegeddon is a change of pace for the studio behind asymmetrical multiplayer games Predator: Hunting Grounds and Friday the 13th: The Game, instead embracing vibrant colours in a 90s punk rock aesthetic, as well as a greater focus on cooperative play for up to 4 players.

Early this year, the studio announced it is working on Ghostbusters: Spirits Unleashed, another multiplayer title coming soon.
