Bloodborne-inspired Thymesia gets demo and release date

thymesia release date pc ps5

Bloodborne fans, here’s an upcoming action RPG that may tickle your fancy. Previously announced earlier this year, Thymesia has a confirmed release date set for August 9, 2022.

Created by Chinese developer, OverBorder Studio, and published by Team17, the game will be exclusive to PC and new-gen console including PS5 and Xbox Series X|S.

Those wanting to get some early hands-on time with Thymesia can play the PC demo, which is available from now until May 9th as part of Steam’s Going Rogue Festival. This event celebrates the roguelike genre and its myriad offshoots, featuring games from Hollow Knight and Sekiro, to Nioh and Rogue Legacy 2.

About Thymesia

A kingdom once thriving on the power of alchemy enters an age of calamity. After discovering the price behind alchemy, an attempt to stop the use of it backfired. Within a few days, the kingdom was in chaos and the streets infested with monsters.

The key to understanding all of this is in Corvus’ hands, but he has lost his memory. The truth can only be found within his memories, but every time he dives back in, he only finds more secrets.

  • Weaponising diseases: As Corvus, players can seize diseases from enemies and wield them as deadly weapons
  • Engaging combat: Players will need to use their entire arsenal to avoid death; dodging attacks and parrying at precisely the right time will be instrumental to survival
  • A dark and deadly world: With a sinister and gloomy backdrop, Thymesia oozes character through its environments and setting
  • Unforgiving enemies: Corrupted by the plague, and mutated into monsters, the enemies are twisted and incredibly hostile, challenging players at every turn
  • Replayability: The ability to customise Corvus and try different builds, coupled with the multiple different endings available, means no two playthroughs are ever the same.

From the fluid combat to its plague-ridden setting, we’re definitely getting a Bloodborne vibe though there’s enough to separate Thymesia from the ever-popular PlayStation exclusive.
