Get another look at the chuffing terrifying Choo-Choo Charles

Featured within the Day of the Devs stream at Summer Game Fest, we got a fresh look at Choo-Choo Charles, the open world survival horror that has crawled out of Thomas the Tank Engine-fuelled nightmares.

Announced late last year and coming to Steam in 2022, Choo-Choo Charles has you trying to survive the eponymous spider-train terror. You’re just a puny human, and Charles is a hungry, hungry train, so you’ll want to stay close to your only means of escape and survival, a little yellow train that you can ride around the tracks of this open world setting, and from which you can shoot Charles repeatedly in the face until he decides better of it.

Your overarching goal is to summon Charles to a 1-on-1 fight to the death, but you’ll need to better yourself in order to do so. Talking to the locals will get you missions to take on that will earn you scrap and gear to improve your train and its weaponry. That, however, will require you to step of your train and head out on foot, and Charles is always hunting. It’s not just trains you need to worry about, as there’s shotgun-wielding cultists who would like to catch and feed you to Charles.

In order to summon Charles for your final fight, you need to find and collect three gems from dungeons around the island, taking them to a shrine that summons him to you.

All in all, it’s about as inventive a survival horror as I can think of right now, and I’m definitely keen to see more (if a bit too scared to actually play it for myself). If, however, you think this looks like a right laugh and want to play it ASAP, then make sure to head over head over and wishlist Choo-Choo Charles on Steam.
