Ghostbusters VR, which was previously announced as an exclusive for Meta Quest 2, will now also be coming to PSVR 2. The news came via a Tweet from the official Ghostbusters account.
You’ve all been asking. We’re here to answer your call. The #GhostbustersVR is not only coming to the Meta Quest 2, it will also be coming to PlayStation VR2! #PSVR2 @SonyPicturesVR @nDreamsVR#GhostbustersDay
— Ghostbusters (@Ghostbusters) June 9, 2022
The game is being created by nDreams, who have developed a number of PSVR titles in the past, and will feature single player and online co-op.
Here’s some blurb about the game:
Strap on your proton pack and Meta Quest 2 and step into the world of Ghostbusters in immersive virtual reality. Start your Ghostbusters HQ in a new city, San Francisco, and solve a deep mystery across a new chapter in the Ghostbusters universe.
Track, blast, and trap ghosts in gripping encounters by wielding iconic equipment. Go it alone, or as a team with up to three friends in co-op, in an extensive and engrossing campaign. Continue the Ghostbusters’ legacy, protect the city from fiendish ghosts, and experience all the humor and frights from the beloved franchise.
This will be the second out for the busting franchise on PlayStation VR. When the ill-fated reboot movie was in cinemas Sony stealth launched an “immersive VR experiences” rather than a full game. It only ran for about fifteen minutes but you did get to wield a proton pack and entrap Slimer.
Those without VR can look forward to Ghostbusters: Spirits Unleashed which was announced by Friday the 13th: The Game developer IllFonic. It’s another 4v1 asymmetrical multiplayer game from the team, targeting a Q4 2022 release across PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC via the Epic Games Store.
The Ghostbusters will be kitted out with the classic Proton Pack, Ghost Trap and PKE Meter to try and track down the ghastly ghost that’s been haunting a public location. Playing as the ghost, your job is to do a good bit of spooking while you can. You’re meant to scare innocent citizens, sneaking around the map and evading the Ghostbusters by jumping back and forth through rifts. You can possess object in rooms, as well as slime people and summon minions to help.
