Surprise inFamous Second Son update makes Cole DLC free

Ghost of Tsushima developer, Sucker Punch Studios, has launched a surprise update for its previous game, inFamous Second Son. Released in 2014 for the PS4, players can now access the superhero sequel’s “Cole’s Legacy” DLC, for free.

This chunk of content – which fills us in on what happened after the events of inFamous 2 – was previously inaccessible to a wide number of players. This was due to it being exclusively tethered to certain editions of inFamous Second Son as a bonus add-on.

It’s a minor update yet one existing Second Son fans and first-time players will come to appreciate. Here’s exactly what’s included in the Cole’s Legacy DLC:

Play through a series of missions as Delsin Rowe to discover what happened between the devastating events of inFamous 2 and inFamous Second Son.

Cole MacGrath’s actions in New Marais set in motion a chain of events leading to the occupation of Seattle by the oppressive Department of Unified Protection.

Cole’s Legacy bridges this gap in time and lets you reveal the truth about how the world of inFamous Second Son came to be.

When you complete Cole’s Legacy, you’ll unlock a Cole MacGrath jacket for Delsin to wear.

Some PlayStation pundits have highlighted the timing of this inFamous update, suggesting that Sucker Punch and Sony may have something to announce about the series’ future. However, that doesn’t look to be the case, SP having recently stated that neither their team or any other developer is currently working on inFamous or the Sly Raccoon franchises.

It’s more likely that Sucker Punch wanted to appease a minority of fans who had been asking for ways to access the Cole’s Legacy DLC. That, and the relaunch of the new PlayStation Plus which features Second Son within its extensive catalogue of games on demand.

Following the tenth anniversary of inFamous, we took a look back at this underrated series and where it could potentially go next upon its eventual return.
