The latest animated Mortal Kombat movie, the name of which leaked a few days ago, has been officially revealed with a fresh new trailer. Mortal Kombat Legends: Snow Blind will star Kenshi, perhaps one of the lesser known characters from the game.
It seems he will be facing up to the Black Dragon faction which is lead by King Kano, a rather more mature version of the famous Mortal Kombat character. Shang Tsung, Kabal, Sub Zero, and Erron Black also make an appearance in the trailer. The film has not been given a release date but will be heading straight to blu-ray and digital download.
A sequel to the most recent Mortal Kombat film to hit cinemas was confirmed in January this year with The Umbrella Academy’s Jeremy Slater tasked to write the script. The movie is to star Johnny Cage with Lewis Tan returning as Cole Young, Tadanobu Asano as Raiden, Jessica McNamee as Sonya Blade, Mehcad Brooks as Jax, and Ludi Lin as Liu Kang. It has also been confirmed that, unlike the first film, the movie will feature a Mortal Kombat tournament.
At present the movie is still in the works but given the recent shake up at Warner Bros, which saw the completed Bat Girl film cancelled and many tv shows also shown the door, it might not be safe.
As for the games we know that in July 2021 Neatherealm announced they were ending support for Mortal Kombat 11 to work on their “next game” but they have not given any further details. It is assumed that this will be Mortal Kombat 12, but they could be working on Injustice 3.
Unfortunately Mortal Kombat 11 did not get our hearts jumping and scored 7/10 in our review. “There is so much heart and care put into this game, from the combat to the gorgeous visuals and memorable story, but that effort feels nullified by the desperate attempt to twist an iconic video game franchise into just another endlessly online service game,” said Miguel.
