Techland has announced its first major Dying Light 2 DLC expansion, titled Bloody Ties. Launching on October 13, 2022, for PC and consoles, players will return to Villedor to participate in some dystopian blood sports.

In this Dying Light 2 DLC, you will test your prowess against fellow survivors in Carnage Hall, a former opera house that has since been converted into a gladiatorial arena. Bloody Ties promises a hot new chapter in the Dying Light saga as you enter this neon-lit lion pit, battling fierce challengers in a series of gruelling gauntlets.

Besides new quests and challenges, we can also expect “surprising” new weapon types alongside a cast of extravagant new characters to interact with. Pricing for the DLC has yet to be confirmed though those who pre-order can bag themselves some exclusive bonus content in the form of the Aristocrat Pack.

But that’s not all. Today Techland dropped its latest Dying Light 2 update, aimed at addressing issues and making game changes based on community feedback since Dying Light 2 launched. Here’s a summary.

New options:

  • Added a new Color Grading option in Video settings. Try “Gritty” to make your game look similar to the 2019 gameplay presentations.
  • Added possibility to toggle Chromatic Aberration (on/off) in Video settings.

Changes to Infected:

  • More Biters are now roaming the The City.
  • Biters are now more aggressive at night.
  • Virals are now much more vigilant and will leave their hideouts more eagerly if they hear a fight nearby.
  • You will encounter more Special Infected at night.
  • Be wary of Dark Hollows and Forsaken Stores during the day – encounters there can be quite VOLATILE.

General improvements:

  • Various graphical improvements, including new screen space ambient occlusion (SSAO) implementation.
  • Various image clarity improvements, including new temporal anti-aliasing (TAA) implementation and improved texture filtering.
  • Weapon mods can now increase weapons maximum durability.

PS5 version:

  • Added Variable Refresh Rate (VRR) support for “Performance Mode”.
  • Resolution Mode works in native 4K/30 FPS.

PC version:

  • Added AMD FSR 2.0 support.
  • Improved management of GPU memory in DirectX 12 mode, especially when Ray-Tracing is enabled.

Xbox Series X version:

  • Resolution Mode works in native 4K/30 FPS.

Dying Light 2 is out now on PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. In our Dying Light 2 review, we scored the game a 7/10 saying:

Dying Light 2 expands and refines a formula Techland has been peddling since its breakout success with Dead Island. This sequel learns a lot from modern open world video games, its massive, zombie-infested sandbox rarely feeling empty, especially as you breeze through city blocks with a Mirror’s Edge-like finesse. However, Dying Light 2 inherits the same problems – a dull story, tiresome combat, and character progression that’s a tad too sluggish.
