Sony have announced that the price of the PlayStation 5 console will rise in Europe and Japan, but the price will remain the same in the United States.
It seems “economic conditions” are the reason for the rise, including spiralling interest rates across the world. These have been caused in part by the astronomical costs of fuel, which in term is caused by the war in Ukraine, so if you want to moan and someone for making the PS5 more expensive it’s ultimately the megalomaniac over in the Kremlin. There are other factors, such as shipping costs rising, but as I am sure you all know the price of everything is rocketing at the moment.
In mainland Europe the price will rise from 499.99 euros to 549.99 euros, while the price in the UK for a disc console will rise by twenty pounds to £479.99.
So far the other console manufacturers have not increased the price of their consoles but now Sony have made the jump I would expect Microsoft and Nintendo to make some adjustments. They may and try and keep their prices rises lower to make their consoles more attractive.
Sony have recently reworked PlayStation Plus with new tiers so it’s highly unlikely they will change the price of that service.

I’ve got to admit, the amount of spelling errors and bad grammar in TSA articles are part of the reason I use another site for my main source of gaming news these days. That and the shift of focus away from PS centric news content.
Lyts1985
Yep, and unfortunately that’s the news editor of the site making all these errors and not checking articles before publishing…
I agree Bex, and it’s obvious from the lack of engagement on the sites articles that TSA just isn’t what it used to be. No real community here at all anymore and it’s just turned into a news ticker. It’s a crying shame as I used to visit TSA daily.
Old School
Agreed, Lyts1985, this site used to be my go to source for PlayStation news during the PS3 and early PS4 era, but too many articles started pandering to woke nonsense that it turned me away. Their Sackboy review was ridiculous.

Careful with descriptions of Russian governance personnel – people have apparently ended up on a banned list for entering Russia for less! Although I probably wouldn’t advise Russia as a holiday destination at the moment anyway to be fair!
