Dead Space Extended Gameplay Walkthrough shows 8 minutes of new footage

EA Motive has shared eight minutes of new gameplay of the Dead Space Remake, narrated by Senior Producer Philippe Ducharme and comparing the new game with the original. The game is coming out for PS5, Xbox Series X|S and PC on 27th January 2023.

Right from the off, the gameplay shows how the game has been adapted and expanded, with Isaac able to fly through the much larger Ishimura Hangar in Chapter 3. The game will have a single cut presentation style, no longer relying on the tram to get between chapters and creating a seamless ship.

There’s been a huge increase in visual fidelity, though it likely looks closer to what you remember of the game compared to the reality. If you choose to backtrack through the ship to explore further, the game might transform the scenario with different enemies, ambience and lighting. This is thanks to the Intensity Director that will add less predictable elements into the game.

Another massively improved area is the Centrifuge, with so much more detail on the Necromorph tendril that have broken into it, a larger scale that affects how well you can keep track of enemies, and being able to fly in zero-G instead of having to land and be anchored to the surfaces.

It’s all looking pretty fab, and a tastefully expanded and reconsidered remake of an action horror classic – something that we’re getting to say more and more often these days.

We reviewed the original game back before we put scores on games and at the time we said “Dead Space is so good at this that you’ll forget you’re playing a video game. I know, it’s a cliche, but it’s totally deserved here: the way the HUD is presented, as a floating hologram in from of you, the way that shops and upgrade stations are totally integrated into the environment, the way that cut-scenes always play out directly in front of you without forcing you to watch or even remove control from the player: it’s all brilliantly done and absolutely crucial in keeping you locked into the game.”

  1. Still not worth £70 bucks though….like the LoTU remake its criminal to charge that.

    • Yeah, i want to play this but for a current gen price i’ll be looking for a current gen experience, which makes Callisto Protocol a more appealing prospect.
