Ahead of its release on 28th October, Capcom has released fresh trailers for Resident Evil Village Gold Edition, which bundles together the Shadows of Rose expansion, an expanded Mercenaries mode, and new third person camera for the original game. It’s a big bundle of new content for players of the game, whether you pick it up in the standalone Winters Expansion or grab the new Gold Edition.
A new demo for the game will let you play for 60 minutes, wether in the new third person mode or the original first person mode.
Shadows of Rose follows on from the end of the main game’s story, skipping ahead in time to Rose being 16 years old and wanting to confront her nightmarish abilities. This will take her back to the Village, but also see her delve into the realm of consciousness where she meets another version of herself and has to endure some wild things happening to the world around her, like being surrounded by giant doll heads.
We went hands on with Shadows of Rose last month, Nick saying, “Shadows of Rose looks like it’s going to be a lot of fun. With it being set so far in the future, it will be interesting to see how this affects the RE universe as a whole. For now though, it’s nice to have more action in the Village, with a slightly different take from the survival horror we are used to.”
The expanded ‘Additional Orders’ Mercenaries mode will add the ability to play as Chris Redfield, Karl Heisenberg and even Lady Dimitrescu to tower over the enemies you face. There’s certain adjustments to the gameplay, so enemies will come after you, if you don’t finish them off.
And finally, there’s the third person mode for the main game. The game originally played from first person, but Capcom recognises that some people dislike the first person view, suffer from motion sickness, and get a touch too scared. in a fun twist, they’ve made it so that Ethan’s face will still be obscured.
