Ubisoft has confirmed their plans for Mario + Rabbids Sparks of Hope DLC, with three DLC expansions set to arrive for the game through 2023.
The first DLC will be the Tower of Doooom in early 2023, in which players will head into a multi-dimensional tower at the behest of Madame Wahstrella to try and save Spawny (who caused such a ruckus in the first game). This will add a new combat game mode with “highly strategic battles” as you try to fight your way up to the top of the tower.
In mid-2023, the second DLC will add a completely new planet to the game. this will bring new environments to wander around, new characters to meet, secrets to uncover and new enemies to face.
Finally, Rayman will show up in the third DLC due in late 2023. This will add Rayman as a playable character, and “explore a new and mysterious place.” This could be something on the scale of the Donkey Kong expansion for the first game.
Tower of Doooom will be available exclusively for those who buy the Season Pass or have grabbed the Gold Edition of the game, while the second and third DLC will be available separately.
Mario + Rabbids Sparks of Hope is a great follow up to the original, Kingdom Battle. There’s a brand new battle system, a planet-hopping story and plenty of new ideas running through the game. In our Mario + Rabbids Sparks of Hope review, I said:
“There’s a lot that’s new and different in Mario + Rabbids Sparks of Hope, creating a more freeform, looser feel to the game’s world exploration and combat alike. Not all of the changes stick the landing, but the drive to reinvent and evolve is admirable and this is still easy to recommend for fans of the original and turn-based tactics in general.”
