Kingdoms of Amalur: Re-Reckoning has received a brand new game mode just in time for Christmas. This new mode is the Arena mode. Arena mode in Kingdoms of Amalur: Re-Reckoning pits players against waves of enemies, with each successive wave getting stronger as time goes on. Those who survive and thrive in the arenas will get rewards, with round challenges providing additional rewards.
The description for the update says, “Prepare to put your battle skills to the test in Kingdoms of Amalur: Re-Reckoning’s all new “Arena Mode”. Round after round you will fight hordes of enemies in brand new Arena locations. The stakes are high, and Rewards await those who can show their mettle. Gear up and use powerful Enchantments as the difficulty increases with each new battle. Prove your worthiness by completing Round Challenges to receive even more Rewards. Do you have what it takes to leave the Arena victorious?”
Kingdoms of Amalur: Re-Reckoning Review
In our review, I wrote, “Kingdoms of Amalur Re-Reckoning is a good solid remaster, just don’t expect much to have changed compared to the original. The world is as magical fantasy as you could get, and it really does draw you in, but some technical issues and a number of repetitive quests can dull the otherwise colourful experience.”
Kingdoms of Amalur was originally released in 2012, but its development was mired in controversy around the finances of how the game was funded. The state of Rhode Island launched an investigation into how the money had been spent, since the State had provided a loan to 38 Studios. With the debt accrued during the development and failure to hit sales targets all of this saw developer 38 Studios go bankrupt, with this game being its only released project. THQ Nordic eventually purchased the IP, leading to the remaster.
