Metal Gear singer NOT working on Metal Gear 3 remake, despite what the internet thinks

Donna Burke, singer and voice actress for Metal Gear Solid 3, recently posted a tweet which was labelled “recording in progress,” and she can be seen holding a a laminate with Snake Eater on the front. As rumours of Metal Gear remakes have been swirling for quite a while the internet concluded that she was working on a remake of the game.

Except she is not. Composer Mason Lieberman, who is working with Ms. Burke, has flatly denied they are working on the remake. He has confirmed they are working on the Snake Easter soundtrack, but for reasons that have yet to be revealed. It could be that Konami (or someone else) are putting together some sort of audio release, perhaps a collectors edition vinyl.

In January this year Quinton Flynn, the voice of Raiden in the Metal Gear Solid series, seemingly teased a new Metal Gear announcement. In response to a fan suggestion that there would be a reveal he tweeted “Stayed tuned for things to be announced in the coming weeks“.  We’re quite a way in to 2023 now so whatever he was teasing has clearly been delayed, and once again we should point out he does not specifically mention games.

Rumours of remakes of various Metal Gear games have been swirling around the internet for a good while although there is not much evidence that any such projects exists.  Last year Chinese developers Virtuos did list Konami as one of their clients although they have never worked with them, so that got the rumour mill spinning. Also, right at the end of 2022 Konami’s Noriaki Okamura told Famitsu magazine that the publisher had many games in development and for 2023 his keyword was “long-awaited”. That could have been a tease for Silent Hill, but perhaps it’s a Metal Gear Solid remake.

Numerous internet tipsters, most with dubious track records, have also been suggesting a Metal Gear Solid remake is on the way. YouTube is packed full of videos, but again there’s no real substance to back up any of the claims.
