Space Marine 2 has its first proper gameplay footage, unveiled by Focus Entertainment during the Warhammer Skulls event. The footage shows the Space Marines facing off against a horde of Tyranids on Ultramar. The marines ask what is sending these drones out to fight, and the answer is “A worthy adversary.” Check out the footage below.
Space Marine 2 was revealed in 2021, and is in development at Saber Interactive who are best known for World War Z and Snowrunner. The horde element from World War Z definitely plays a part in the build of Space Marine 2.
The Collector’s Edition has also been revealed, which will include:
- A hand-painted, 21-cm resin statuette of Lieutenant Titus fighting a Tyranid
- The art and making of Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2, a 64-page hardcover book
- A Steelbook
- The game on the platform of your choice, with the Macragge’s Chosen DLC
While it’s a completely different game studio, we can look back on the original. The 2011 Space Marine was a decent crack at creating a 40K third person shooter with a decent story battling against Orkish hordes. In our review of Space Marine, Dan said, “Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine has been a pleasant surprise. It provides a good story wrapped in some very enjoyable gameplay mechanics. Whilst it does have a few niggles, there’s no denying that it’s a hoot to play through as you hack, slash and blast your way to the Spire.”
Space Marine 2 is coming to PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and PC in 2023.
