Ubisoft has announced that their free-to-play multiplayer shooter XDefiant will get one more beta session before launch. This open beta will take place on 21st-23rd June, before the full release comes later this summer.
Launch will open with a six week preseason that lets all of the launch content settle, but it’s then onto the planned year 1 content, with the seasonal approach and regular content drops including:
- 4 New Factions
- 12 New Weapons
- 12 New Maps
This will mean there’s one new map each and every month, and each three months will debut a new class-like faction.
We went hands on with XDefiant earlier this year, with Dom’s time in the closed beta test giving him some positive vibes. He said: “I really enjoyed my hands-on time here, and XDefiant’s smooth and satisfying gameplay matched to an approachable progression system could well mean Ubisoft find free-to-play success in the near future. There’s also still time to find ways to add a tower or two to climb – everyone knows that’s the best bit, right?”
