The Lollipop Chainsaw remake has been delayed to 2024, Dragami Games has announced, with the studio needing more time to develop it. There has also been confirmation of a name change, and a new logo. Instead of being called Lollipop Chainsaw Remake, this version of the game will be called Lollipop Chainsaw RePOP. The news came via Dragami Games X account, formerly known as Twitter. Lollipop Chainsaw has players take on the role of cheerleader Juliet Starling, who finds herself in a zombie apocalypse on her 18th birthday. Along for the ride is her boyfriend Nick. Well, his still living decapitated head that Juliet lopped off after he was bitten by a zombie. Luckily for him, Juliet comes from a family of zombie hunters. In the game, Juliet uses a chainsaw to kill zombies which disappear in sparkles. This feature would later influence James Gunn’s stylistic choice for 2021’s Suicide Squad when Harley Quinn goes on a rampage. The studio hasn’t shared any footage from Lollipop Chainsaw RePOP, though promises visual enhancements for the zombie-slaying action game.
