Flashback 2 has a new gameplay trailer, release date is November 16th

Flashback 2 has a brand new gameplay trailer, and a confirmed release date of November 16th. Microids confirmed the news today, having originally targeted 2022 release when Flashback 2 was announced in 2021. The new Flashback 2 trailer shows just how far graphics have come in the 30 years since the original Flashback, and also shows some combat and environments.

The features of Flashback 2 include:

  • A vibrant sci-fi/cyberpunk universe full of immersive environments, including New Tokyo, New Washington, and the Jungles of Titan.
  • Use A.I.S.H.A., a lethal adaptive weapon enhanced with combat AI.
  • A gripping, fluid and intricate platform shooter.
  • A 3D environment crafted for even deeper immersion.
  • Designed and developed by the creator of the original, Paul Cuisset.

While this is known as Flashback 2, there was actually Flashback sequel released in 1995 called Fade to Black. A third game called Flashback Legends was also in development, but studio Delphine went bankrupt in 2003 ending that possibility. In Flashback 2, the Morph invasion still threatens the stability of the United Worlds, Conrad B is on the hunt for his lifelong friend. In 2013, Flashback was remade for (then) modern consoles. Our review was not kind.

Flashback (2013) Review

In 1993 Flashback was a fantastic blend of well told, tense story with revolutionary visual flair. In 2013, it’s a bit of a confused mess. There was an opportunity – given some time, cash and care – to remake a classic game in a modern way. That opportunity has been almost entirely wasted and instead what we got is an insult to the memory of the original. For newcomers to Flashback this will likely be an unappealing, disjointed experience. For those of us who remember the original with fondness, it’s a slap in the face.

Flashback 2 will be released for PS5, PS4, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, Switch and PC. The game is available to wishlist.

  1. I was such a big fan of the Original on my Amiga 500+. I even recreated the intro animation in Deluxe Paint :)
But I was disappointed with the 2013 remake. Hoping this will be good..
