Two new gang members for Payday 3 have been revealed, alongside an outline of the DLC roadmap for the game. Payday 3 is out across PS5, Xbox Series X|S and PC on 21st September.
The trailer introduces Pearl and Joy, a pair of new female characters that will join the original foursome of Dallas, Hoxton, Wolf and Chains to make for a total of six heisters available to play as at launch. Pearl is a con artist and infiltrator, while Joy is described as a genius hacker and security expert. Joy was actually created for the Nintendo Switch release of Payday 2, but was then added as a free character for the PC edition of the game in 2018.
Naturally Payday 3 will have plenty of post-launch content updates and support, just as its predecessors did, and now we get a look at what Year 1 will include in the ‘High Level Post Launch Plan’. Four DLC packs will be released over the course of the next year as follows:
DLC 1 – Syntax Error set for Winter 2023
DLC 2 – Boys in Blue is set to release in Spring 2024
DLC 3 – The Land of the Free will release in Summer 2024
DLC 4 – Fear and Greed set for Fall 2024
Payday 3 is coming out on 21st September, but if you don’t want to wait and have either a PC or Xbox, you can play a little sampler a bit before then. The Payday 3 open beta will take place on these two platforms – but not PS5 – from today, 8th September, and through the weekend until 11th September.
This is a “sever slam” of a test, using a very old build of the game from April that’s featured in previous closed beta tests and featuring just one heist, No Rest For The Wicked, which is set in a small bank. While all difficulties can be played, the Infamy level cap is 22 and weapon level progression cap is at 8.
