A trio of additions to Fortnite have been announced with LEGO Fortnite headlining the reveals.
Described as “digital play experience” this is the first collaboration between Epic and LEGO and will be available from within Fortnite on December 7th. Here’s more from Epic.
“LEGO Fortnite is the ultimate survival crafting LEGO adventure. It introduces vast, open worlds where the magic of LEGO building and Fortnite collide. Designed for people of all ages to enjoy together, the game will encourage creativity, experimentation and collaboration through play.”
Joining it will be Rocket Racing, “a supersonic arcade racer where players drift, fly, and boost with friends through an ever-growing selection of tracks.” This has been developed by Psyonix, the team behind Rocket League and for some reason it looks like you character from Fortnite will hang on to the top of your vehicle as you race around. This will launch a day later on December 8th.
Finally on December 9th you will be able to jump in to the Fortnite Festival. “Fortnite Festival is a new music game where players can play in a band with friends or perform solo on stage with hit music by their favourite artists. Built by Harmonix, the studio behind the iconic music game Rock Band, Festival marks the beginning of music gaming in Fortnite.”
As previously leaked, this will feature Eminem.
As you may have gathered Epic are using the talents of the studios they have bought up to bolster in the in-game content for Fortnite, the one glaring exception is anything Mediatonic, creators of Fall Guys. Unfortunately that team was scaled back recently when Epic Games made around 16% of their total staff redundant.
“We concluded that layoffs are the only way, and that doing them now and on this scale will stabilize our finances,” said Epic at the time.
