The Chinese Room and Paradox Interactive have released a gameplay reveal video for Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2, with Creative Director Alex Skidmore explaining how players will be able to explore the nightlife of Seattle in the game.
Joined by The Chinese Room Community manager Joshua Matthews, the pair explore Seattle as one of the Brujah – one of four playable clans in the game. Matthews and Skidmore take on an early mission from the game to infiltrate a warehouse and uncover clues about a mysterious mark on the hand of player character Phyre.
You’ll have choices in how you go about this and the surrounding mystery, as you’ll be able to confront the Court’s secret keeper in your official role as the Court’s Sheriff, meet some ghastly ghouls, and encounter illusions that disrupt and mask the environment.
How you go about things will affect the perception of you, but that will naturally be informed by the clan that you choose to start the game and the Disciplines that they have. Demoed here, the Brujah are about brute force, the Banu Haqim are more stealthy, Ventrue more manipulative, and the Tremere have blood magic on their side.
It was back in September last year when Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2 was re-revealed following years of delay and issues. The re-reveal confirmed that The Chinese Room had taken over development duties. The pitch and story for Bloodlines 2 has now shifted compared to the originally revealed version of the game. Still set in Seattle, there’s a three-way power struggle for power in the Vampire Court, and in an intriguing shift, Phyre is an Elder Vampire, capable of tapping into all the fantastical enhancements that each clan offers them.
Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2 is in development for PS5, Xbox Series X|S and PC, expected to release in late 2024.
