Something for the Weekend – 18/05/24

F1 Manager 24 Create a Team livery editor header

As the Formula 1 circus heads to Imola this weekend, there’s a mixture of excitement and sombre remembrance. Are Red Bull on the back foot again? Will Ferrari and Mercedes’ upgrade packages slingshot them to the front? And was McLaren’s win last time out a flash in the pan or can they keep fighting for the top step?

At the same time, it’s 30 years since the death of Ayrton Senna and Roland Ratzenberger, and the shockwaves that were felt in 1994 are still felt in the sport to this day.

We had a lot of reports and significant gaming headlines this week, so let’s dive in.

In the News This Week

Games in Review & Featured Articles

Let’s start off with the handful of reviews we had:

And Steve was very impressed in our lone hardware review of the week:

Gamesir X2s USB-C mobile controller – iPhone, Android – 9/10

Elsewhere, I had a couple of previews to share with you all. I went hands on with the first few sections of Prison Architect 2’s career, seeing how the game is handling the jump to 3D (and to new developers, kind of). I also played a couple select slices of F1 Manager 24, which brings a new Create a Team option for the career, mechanical failures to deal with, mentality and more.

Rounding things out as always, What We Played featured a bunch of Assassin’s Creed games, Little Kitty, Big City and Prison Architect 2.

Your Gaming & Achievements

Here’s what you in our community have been up to this week:

  • TSBonyman has actually succeeded in fully completing Elden Ring after a staggering 350 hours playing it! There’s still some little bits he could mop up, but is probably going to hold off until the DLC arrives. So he’s been replaying Cyberpunk 2077, but with that not scratching the FromSoftware itch, has also made a start on Mortal Shell.
  • And Andrewww has played the Demon’s Souls remake (having beaten the original release) after watching his son playing it.

That’s the round up for this week. We’ll be back next week for more gaming news and more. See you then!
