Getting a big new trailer and gameplay reveal during the Xbox Games Showcase was South of Midnight – the next game from Compulsion Games, the makers of We Happy Few. The game is coming to Xbox Series X|S, PC and will be day one on Xbox Game Pass when it releases in 2025.
The game features an almost claymation visual style – though potentially aided a little by the YouTube compression on the stream – blending together action adventure exploration with Bayonetta-style combat. The world blends together vibes of the deep south of America with giant sea monsters, island-sized alligators and more. You’ll play as Hazel after a hurricane rips through the fantasy world of Prospero.
It’s a really interesting looking game that I’m very keen to see more of.
