UK Video Games Prototype Fund Has Now Launched

The Video Games Prototype Fund launched today in the UK, releasing £4 million in funds over the next four years for smaller developers. UK Games Talent and Finance CIC are the groups that are running the fund, and grants of up to £25,000 and £50,000 can be given depending on the project. The latter figure will only be given to a smaller limited group, though what criteria will be used to determine who will get that much hasn’t been expanded upon.

The breakdown is as follows:

  • Grants of up to £25,000 to support the creation of working prototype games.
  • Grants of up to £50,000  for a limited number of projects to take their ideas beyond the prototype phase.

As well as the funds there will be opportunities for mentorships and showcases too. If you are interested in applying for funding then you need to email [email protected], who will get help guide you through the process. However, according to the official site, application turnaround can take between four to six weeks.
