Telltale Games has released a new gameplay trailer for The Expanse: A Telltale Series, their upcoming sci-fi narrative adventure set in the popular TV and novel series. There’s still no release date revealed for this game, though it was previously expected to release in summer 2023.

It’s been a good while since we last saw something from The Expanse, with Telltale and development partner Deck Nine having last shared a gameplay trailer at Gamescom 2022. This video game adaptation will still feature plenty of the decision-laden storytelling that made Telltale’s games so popular a decade ago, but has expanded to feature more direct control over characters, from scavenging from wrecked ships in a zero-G environment to combating pirates.

The game stars Camina Drummer, with Cara Gee reprising her role from the TV series in a prequel story set amidst a brutal and bloody mutiny onboard the Artemis. Being set before the TV series and books, it’s unlikely we will meet many of the other characters from the show, though you never know. A few other familiar faced Belters could easily make an appearance, and we all know how much gamers love to dig around for easter eggs.

The Expanse is based off the TV series that recently concluded on Amazon, which was in turn based on the series of novels by writing duo James S.A. Corey, with the novels themselves being based on a prototype tabletop RPG.

Speaking back when The Expanse: A Telltale Series was announced at The Game Awards 2021, Cara Gee said, “I have absolutely loved playing the character of Camina Drummer for the past several seasons on The Expanse. And I think we’ve seen her go through this really really incredible arc, and with this Telltale series I think we’re having a chance to explore some of the unknown parts of Drummer’s story. And I’m beyond thrilled to get back into the eye makeup and the dialect, and dive in and just keep exploring this phenomenal, powerful character.”
