Morning all. So I bought the adapter after Sony’s various blogs and PR suggested it may be compatible with regular PC games… but it turns out it isn’t. As it goes my DS4 pairs quickly with the adapter, the adapter is seen by Windows, you can see the inputs working under the old school Gamepad Preferences in Control Panel, Steam even lets you control Big Picture mode with it and matches the correct controller inputs to a graphic of the XBox controller in the controller menu, but no games I’ve tried recognise the controller. Arse. DS4Windows doesn’t recognise it either but I’m hoping a future update will do the trick.

Has anyone else bought the adapter and until DS4W catches up does anyone know of any other software than can take any external input (steady!) and fool a PC into thinking it’s an XBox controller? I’m guessing that’s the solution and I really don’t want to send the adapter back as it works amazingly well for remote play, so it shows great potential for my Steam collection!

It’s working!! In case anyone’s interested all my above woes are already a thing of the past and the little stick is well worth £20. I’ve been using a version of DS4Windows that’s been fiddled with to support the adapter, apparently the official version of DS4W is now patched too so grab 1.4.5 to get the XBox controller emulation working.

The adapter sports great signal strength, my media PC sits right behind my telly, whose weighted metal base causes my wireless mouse and keyboard to drop out constantly, no such issues with the adapter. It also turns the controller off with the PC, I’m pretty sure that didn’t happen with my internal Bluetooth. It’s nice, thanks to DS4W I love it.

Good to hear Ron – I bought one but haven’t used it yet hence I couldn’t add anything of use to you here, but glad it’s working now anyway!

Hope to use my DS4 for a few PC-exclusive games!

Get cracking mate, it’s an awesome little gadget now that it works! The touchpad working as a mouse is very smart too, it’s infinitely fiddly in Windows so I can’t imagine anyone using it for an RTS, but it’s so handy for the older games that need mouse inputs in menus. Nice that it trumps an XBox controller in one small way.
Such a shame Sony probably won’t get full support from Steam or Windows, the XBox stuff is so ingrained in PC games and I can’t imagine Microsoft lending the competition a hand. That’s a pain for me as I’ve only ever owned PlayStations (since I sold my N64!) so I have to keep looking at pictures to relate ABXY prompts to X Square Triangle and Circle! Ah well, it’ll sink in eventually :)

I hardly have time for my PS4 games these days, let alone PC games – but it’s nice to know I have the gadget and that it works now!

Think the only PC games I have are the point-and-click Commandos games (very old!), Might & Magic Clash of Heroes, Kentucky Route Zero, Metro 2033 and Deadlight (the last 2 which eventually got released on PS4 anyway)!!

I might be tempted to buy the original Dead Space on PC as I suspect the graphics will be far better than the PS3 version and it’s a bloody good game. Would like to play that again!
