One of the things i really miss from my childhood is going to the local arcade to play the latest games and compete in tornuments to earn prizes and bragging rights over friends. These days it seems most arcades are full of extremely dated games and simply dont have the buzz they used to.

I think project morpheus along with playstation move stand a real chance of changing this. Project morpheus alone opens up the dpor for some really cool experiences on its own, but I can imagine the price point and limitations due to average living room size etc may place it just out of the majorities hands and also limit the gaming applications. But if sony were to rebuild the arcade experienxe based around using the headset to produce really unique experiences, it could bring that arcade buzz back. Something that adults children, gamers and non gamers alike would genuinely be interested in.

imagine things like deep space fighting with a group of friends while its projected on a hude screen so everyone can spectate, with a chance to win a copy of the game or a Sony tv, or imagine more crazy experiences like Cave diving or horror experiences with a group of friends, with custom set up gaming rigs and no space limitations I reckon the possibilities are endless

In my opinion arcade gaming is a thing of the past and will remain so. People used to play arcades because they didn’t have a gaming device at home, I can’t see introducing vr into arcades is going to get people back there.
It’s just one of those things we have to move on from, I used to live it to buy I’d much rather be doing it in my own living room without some jerk staring over my shoulder!

I understand what you’re saying, and that why i made the point. I don’t think many people will have VR headsets at home, for cost reasons and possibly space requirements the same reason move an kinect didn’t see huge adoption. And to a certain extent i don’t see VR being able to reach its full potential at home (though I’m sure it will still be great), people still pay to go see 3d / 4d experiences, most notably Dinosaurs Alive, Wild ocean, Shrek 4d and Ice Age 4d. So why they wouldn’t want to pay to do a similar thing in an arcade, only next gen

Tbh I don’t think space requirements will be an issue as Sony are a Japanese company and their cities are overcrowded.

For example playing a space fighter where your seat actually Tilts and shakes with every hit. Or a multi directional zombie game where you trapped in a small room with zombies coming in from all directions. Or even more ambitiously that oculus rift game where you’re lying flat in a sort of harness with sensors attached to your arms and legs and u get to feel what its like to fly like a bird, tilting your wings and lifting your legs. All of these things would be difficult to reproduce in a front room. Most current arcade tech can be reproduced at home

found the of the bird thing. You dont think people would like to go an arcade comprised of similar scope experiences? Impossible to recreate at home

war thunder simulator thia one is pretty impressive as well, but could go even further I think.
